Get to know us!

Hi! We’re Bracha and Rachelli, owners of Yummy Blessings and Yummy Blessings 2.0.
One of the most frequent questions that we get asked is how we started our business. If you were wondering the same thing, this is our story…

Our story

Back in November 2016, when we were just 8 and 10, Bracha’s friend’s mother had a baby girl. In celebration of her new princess, she made a baby Kiddush Thanksgiving weekend. We had a family party that same day, so couldn’t go, but we still wanted to participate. We made a big platter of chocolate covered pretzel rods-some dipped and some molded- and sent it over. After the party, the mother of the new baby called our mother and said that while she had hired a party planner and had tons of fancy desserts, everyone was going crazy over the pretzels. Based on the feedback, she insisted that we open a business.

Our mother was pretty skeptical. After all, we were only 8 and 10. But at the same time, we were both going through a really difficult time in school. While none of us knew where it would go, she felt like having a business would not only distract us, it could also help build our self-confidence. She was hopeful that by seeing that we were able to shine, even though we were struggling in school, we would be able to see ourselves as more of a whole story instead of defining ourselves by our failures. And she was so right!!

Our mother told us to start by taking over her Instagram account. At that time, she had 127 followers. Since Chanukah was around the corner, we started by making packages for our teachers and posting them to the account. That first Chanukah, we got two orders. We started to experiment with different toppings and flavors for our pretzels and slowly expanded into other products. As our business kept growing, so did the bullying in school. We chose to ignore it and kept pushing forward. By that Purim, we made 500 packages. And our company kept growing.

Now, six years later, we’re still growing. Our products have been featured at fundraising events, launch parties, and as corporate gifts. We’ve been interviewed on The Nachum Segal Network (2018), The Malkie Show (2022), Table for 2 with Naomi Nachman (2022), and for several community magazines. We have done hands-on demos for parties, camps, and hotel programs, both in person and over zoom. And it all began from a single phone call from someone who believed in us. Never losing sight of how we got started, we feel that it’s our responsibility to pay that forward. With motivational messages on our packaging, empowering posts on our Instagram page, and the interactions when we are able to meet our customers, we hope to be able to push people to believe in themselves and recognize their capabilities.

That was until now. Seeing our own stories and the struggles that are woven through them, we feel the need to do more. We see teens like us. Teens who seem to be successful and happy on the outside, but who are suffering on the inside. Teens who feel empty and alone. Teens who feel like failures and disappointments. And teens who hide their emotions, put on a good face, and pretend. Pretend that everything is wonderful. But it’s not.

Knowing our story, we are on a mission to help other teens see the Yummy Blessings that they are. We created Yummy Blessings 2.0 to work towards that vision. Our goal is to help teens everywhere find their strengths, embrace their weaknesses, and be the best person that they can be. We want to empower other kids, just like us, to erase all the negative chapters that they have been led to believe about themselves, and turn the page. We want them to be able to pick up a pen and write their own story. A story of their individual value and worth. A story of their talents and capabilities. A story of an awesome teen who is a Yummy Blessing to the world.
